तौ तम् आश्रमम् आसाद्य द्रुमैः बहुभिः आवृतम् ।
सु रम्यम् अभिवीक्षन्तौ शबरीम् अभ्युपेयतुः ॥३-७४-५॥
tau tam āśramam āsādya drumaiḥ bahubhiḥ āvṛtam |
su ramyam abhivīkṣantau śabarīm abhyupeyatuḥ ॥3-74-5॥
Translation
Approaching that exceedingly beautiful hermitage surrounded by many trees, and looking all around, they went towards Shabari.

बहुत से वृक्षों से घिरे हुए उस अत्यंत सुंदर आश्रम के पास पहुँचकर और उसे निहारते हुए, वे दोनों शबरी के पास गए।
English Commentary
The approach to Shabari is described with an appreciation for nature. The ashram is secluded, "surrounded by many trees," creating a sanctuary away from the world. Rama and Lakshmana enter observing the surroundings (abhivikshantau), likely noting the signs of piety and non-violence. The phrasing "went towards Shabari" is direct and powerful. Unlike courtly meetings involving protocols, this meeting is simple and unpretentious. It underscores the theme that spiritual stature commands respect regardless of social hierarchy; the princes of Ayodhya walk up to the elderly ascetic woman, acknowledging her spiritual authority.
