Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
दृष्टो मया आश्रमः सौम्य बहु आश्चर्यः कृतआत्मनाम् ।
विश्वस्त मृग शार्दूलो नाना विहग सेवितः ॥ ॥३-७५-३॥
Dṛṣṭo mayā āśramaḥ saumya bahu āścaryaḥ kṛtaātmanām |
Viśvasta mṛga śārdūlo nānā vihaga sevitaḥ ॥3-75-3॥
Translation
O gentle one! I have seen this ashram of the pure-souled ones, which is full of many wonders. Here, tigers and deer coexist with trust in one another, and the place is adorned by various kinds of birds.

हे सौम्य! मैंने पुण्यात्माओं का यह आश्रम देखा जो बहुत ही आश्चर्यजनक है। यहाँ हिरण और बाघ (जैसे नैसर्गिक शत्रु) एक-दूसरे पर विश्वास करके साथ रहते हैं और यह स्थान नाना प्रकार के पक्षियों से सेवित है।
English Commentary
Sri Rama describes the tangible proof of spiritual non-violence. The penance of the sages was so potent that it erased natural animosity among animals ('Vishvasta mriga shardulo'). The coexistence of tigers and deer is not just a miracle but a reflection of the Sattvic (pure) atmosphere generated by the sages. It suggests that when the mind is free from aggression, the environment mirrors that peace. Rama highlights this wonder to Lakshmana, appreciating the serenity of the hermitage which stands in stark contrast to the violence of the demons they often encounter.

श्री राम यहाँ 'अहिंसा परमो धर्मः' के प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। ऋषियों के तप का प्रभाव ऐसा था कि पशुओं ने अपनी स्वाभाविक हिंसा और वैर भाव त्याग दिया था ('विश्वस्त मृग शार्दूलो')। बाघ और हिरण का एक साथ विश्वासपूर्वक रहना केवल चमत्कार नहीं, बल्कि उस वातावरण की सात्विकता का परिचायक है। जब चित्त शांत और वैर-रहित होता है, तो आस-पास का वातावरण भी बदल जाता है। श्री राम इस शांति को देखकर प्रसन्न हैं, जो उनके वनवास के संघर्षों के बीच एक सुखद अनुभव है।
