Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सप्तानाम् च समुद्राणाम् तेषाम् तीर्थेषु लक्ष्मण ।
उपस्पृष्टम् च विधिवत् पितरः च अपि तर्पिताः ॥ ॥३-७५-४॥
Saptānām ca samudrāṇām teṣām tīrtheṣu lakṣmaṇa |
Upaspṛṣṭam ca vidhivat pitaraḥ ca api tarpitāḥ ॥3-75-4॥
Translation
O Lakshmana! In the holy waters of the seven seas (invoked by the sages), I have duly bathed and also offered libations (Tarpana) to the ancestors.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे लक्ष्मण! उन ऋषियों द्वारा (अपने तप के प्रभाव से) बुलाए गए सातों समुद्रों के तीर्थ-जल में मैंने विधिपूर्वक स्नान (आचमन) किया और पितरों का तर्पण भी किया।
English Commentary
This verse demonstrates that even during exile, Sri Rama adhered strictly to his religious duties. The "seven seas" referred to here are not the physical oceans but the divine waters invoked by the sages through their psychic power. Rama performed the rituals and offered 'Tarpana' to his ancestors. This teaches that regardless of one's location or hardship, one should never neglect their duties toward their lineage. It is a prime example of Rama’s adherence to Dharma (Maryada), showing that spiritual obligations take precedence even in the wilderness.

यह श्लोक सिद्ध करता है कि वनवास में रहते हुए भी श्री राम अपने गृहस्थ और धार्मिक कर्तव्यों (पितृ तर्पण) को नहीं भूले। यहाँ 'सात समुद्रों' का अर्थ भौतिक महासागर नहीं, बल्कि ऋषियों द्वारा अपनी मानसिक शक्ति से आहूत किया गया दिव्य जल है। श्री राम ने उस पवित्र जल से अपने पूर्वजों को तृप्त किया। यह हमें सिखाता है कि स्थान और परिस्थिति कैसी भी हो, व्यक्ति को अपने पूर्वजों और संस्कारों के प्रति कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करने का अवसर कभी नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए। यह राम की मर्यादा और धर्म-पालन का एक उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है।
