तौ सम् स्पृशंतौ चरणौ उत्थाप्य मुनिपुंगवः ।
गाढम् आश्लिष्य सस्नेहम् इदम् वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥३-८-१०॥
tau sam spṛśaṃtau caraṇau utthāpya munipuṃgavaḥ । gāḍham āśliṣya sasneham idam vacanam abravīt ॥3-8-10॥
Translation
Raising those two (Rama and Lakshmana) up as they touched his feet, the best among sages (Sutikshna) embraced them tightly with affection and spoke these words.

चरण स्पर्श करते हुए उन दोनों (राम और लक्ष्मण) को उठाकर, मुनियों में श्रेष्ठ (सुतीक्ष्ण) ने उन्हें स्नेहपूर्वक कसकर गले लगा लिया और यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the emotional reciprocity of Sage Sutikshna. Instead of merely accepting the formal obeisance, the sage actively raises Rama and Lakshmana up and embraces them tightly (gāḍham āśliṣya). This act breaks the barrier of formal reverence usually maintained in ascetic interactions, revealing the sage's overwhelming paternal love and spiritual affection for the princes. The term munipuṃgavaḥ (bull/best among sages) suggests that his greatness lies not just in austerity but also in his capacity for pure, spiritual love. It highlights the magnetic personality of Rama, which draws even detached ascetics into emotional bonds. The embrace serves as a silent blessing, transferring spiritual strength and protection before they venture further into the dangerous Dandaka forest. It is a touching moment of human connection amidst the rigid discipline of forest life.

यहाँ ऋषि सुतीक्ष्ण की वात्सल्य पूर्ण प्रतिक्रिया का वर्णन है। जैसे ही राम और लक्ष्मण ने उनके चरण छुए, ऋषि ने उन्हें झुकने नहीं दिया बल्कि उठाकर गले लगा लिया। 'गाढम् आश्लिष्य' (कसकर गले लगाना) मुनि के हृदय में राम के प्रति गहरे प्रेम और भक्ति को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि मुनि तपस्वी हैं और विरक्त माने जाते हैं, लेकिन राम का व्यक्तित्व ऐसा है कि वे भी भावविभोर हो गए। 'मुनिपुंगवः' (मुनियों में श्रेष्ठ) विशेषण का प्रयोग यह बताने के लिए किया गया है कि सुतीक्ष्ण न केवल तप में बल्कि स्नेह और मानवीय व्यवहार में भी श्रेष्ठ हैं। यह दृश्य गुरु-शिष्य या पिता-पुत्र के मिलन जैसा प्रतीत होता है। यह श्लोक भक्ति मार्ग का भी संकेत देता है जहाँ भगवान और भक्त के बीच औपचारिकताएं समाप्त हो जाती हैं और केवल विशुद्ध प्रेम शेष रहता है।
