उदयन्तम् दिनकरम् दृष्ट्वा विगत कल्मषाः ।
सुतीक्ष्णम् अभिगम्य इदम् श्लक्ष्णम् वचनम् अब्रुवन् ॥ ॥३-८-४॥
Udayantam dinakaram dṛṣṭvā vigata kalmaṣāḥ । sutīkṣṇam abhigamya idam ślakṣṇam vacanam abruvan ॥ ॥3-8-4॥
Translation
Having seen the rising sun and becoming free from impurities (through prayer), they approached Sutikshna and spoke these gentle words.

उगते हुए सूर्य (दिनकर) को देखकर, पाप/कलुष से रहित उन लोगों ने सुतीक्ष्ण के पास जाकर यह मधुर वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Witnessing the rising sun ('udayantam dinakaram') implies performing the Surya Namaskar or Arghya. The term 'vigata kalmashah' (freed from impurities) signifies the internal cleansing resulting from their morning prayers. Purified and calm, they proceed to meet their host. The adjective 'shlakshnam' (gentle/smooth) describes their speech. Even though they are asserting their will to leave, their tone is soft and respectful. This demonstrates Rama’s mastery over speech—he knows how to convey firm decisions without harshness, maintaining harmony with the sage before departure.

सूर्य उपासना (सूर्य अर्घ्य) वैदिक दिनचर्या का अंग है। 'विगत कल्मषाः' (पाप/मैुल से रहित) का अर्थ है कि स्नान और पूजा के बाद वे शारीरिक और मानसिक रूप से शुद्ध हो चुके हैं। पूजा के बाद उनका अगला कार्य अपने गुरु/मेज़बान के पास जाना है। 'श्लक्ष्णम्' का अर्थ है कोमल, मधुर और शिष्ट। विदा लेते समय वाणी में विनम्रता होनी चाहिए। राम जानते हैं कि वे जा रहे हैं, जो शायद ऋषि को अच्छा न लगे, इसलिए वे अपनी बात अत्यंत मृदुता (softness) से रखते हैं। यह व्यवहार-कुशलता का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है।
