त्वरामहे वयम् द्रष्टुम् कृत्स्नम् आश्रम मण्डलम् ।
ऋषीणाम् पुण्य शीलानाम् दण्डकारण्य वासिनाम् ॥ ॥३-८-६॥
Tvarāmahe vayam draṣṭum kṛtsnam āśrama maṇḍalam । ṛṣīṇām puṇya śīlānām daṇḍakāraṇya vāsinām ॥ ॥3-8-6॥
Translation
"We are in a hurry to see the entire circle of hermitages of the virtuous sages residing in the Dandaka forest."

"हम दंडकारण्य में रहने वाले पुण्यशील ऋषियों के संपूर्ण आश्रम-समूह (मंडल) को देखने के लिए शीघ्रता कर रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
Rama articulates the broader purpose of his movement: to visit the 'krtsnam ashrama mandalam' (the entire circle of hermitages). He is not content with staying in one place; he wishes to survey the spiritual landscape of Dandakaranya. This reflects both a kingly duty to inspect his domain (even the wild parts) and a pilgrim's zeal to meet holy men. The phrase 'punya shilanam' acknowledges the virtuous nature of these forest dwellers. Rama’s 'hurry' is driven by a spiritual hunger to witness the diversity of penance in the forest, framing his exile as a dynamic pilgrimage rather than static isolation.

यहाँ राम अपने वनवास का एक और उद्देश्य स्पष्ट करते हैं—'आश्रम मण्डलम् द्रष्टुम्' (आश्रमों के समूह का दर्शन करना)। वे केवल एक जगह नहीं रुकना चाहते, बल्कि पूरे दंडकारण्य का सर्वेक्षण करना चाहते हैं। यह एक राजा का स्वभाव है जो अपने क्षेत्र (भले ही वन हो) की स्थिति जानना चाहता है, और साथ ही एक भक्त का स्वभाव जो संतों के दर्शन का प्यासा है। 'पुण्य शीलानाम्' विशेषण ऋषियों की पवित्रता को दर्शाता है। राम की 'त्वरा' (जल्दी) जिज्ञासा और श्रद्धा से प्रेरित है। यह श्लोक वनवास को एक 'तीर्थयात्रा' के रूप में चित्रित करता है।
