ततः त्वाम् प्रस्थितम् दृष्ट्वा मम चिन्त आकुलम् मनः ।
त्वत् वृत्तम् चिन्तयन्त्या वै भवेत् निःश्रेयसम् हितम् ॥३-९-१२॥
tataḥ tvām prasthitam dṛṣṭvā mama cinta ākulam manaḥ |
tvat vṛttam cintayantya vai bhavet niḥśreyasam hitam ॥3-9-12॥
Translation
Therefore, seeing you set out (armed in this manner), my mind is filled with anxiety. Thinking about your conduct and ultimate welfare, I believe this concern is indeed for your good.

इसलिए, आपको (इस प्रकार युद्ध के लिए उद्यत होकर) प्रस्थान करते देख मेरा मन चिंता से व्याकुल हो रहा है। आपके आचरण और भविष्य के कल्याण (निःश्रेयस) का विचार करने से मुझे लगता है कि यह चिंता आपके हित के लिए ही है।
English Commentary
This verse perfectly encapsulates Sita’s role as a Sahadharmacharini (partner in righteousness). Her anxiety stems not from physical fear, but from the fear of Rama’s spiritual regression. The use of the word 'nihsreyasam' (ultimate welfare or liberation) is profound. Sita worries that engaging in avoidable violence might hinder Rama’s highest spiritual good. She clarifies that her apprehension arises from deep love and a desire for his well-being, not stubbornness. She aims to protect Rama's moral standing, fearing that the path he is taking—armed intervention in the forest—might lead him unknowingly toward Adharma (unrighteousness).
