स्नेहात् च बहुमानात् च स्मारये त्वाम् न शिक्षये ।
न कथंचन सा कार्या गृहीत धनुषा त्वया ॥३-९-२४॥
snehāt ca bahumānāt ca smāraye tvām na śikṣaye |
na kathaṃcana sā kāryā gṛhīta dhanuṣā tvayā ॥3-9-24॥
Translation
Out of affection and high regard, I am reminding you, not instructing you. You should not, by any means, commit that act (mental inclination towards violence) while holding the bow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं स्नेह और अत्यधिक आदर के कारण आपको केवल स्मरण दिला रही हूँ, सिखा नहीं रही हूँ। (मेरा निवेदन है कि) धनुष हाथ में लेकर आपको कदापि वह (बिना वैर के हिंसा वाली) बुद्धि नहीं करनी चाहिए।
English Commentary
Here, Sita’s humility and adherence to decorum are beautifully displayed. After presenting such a strong argument, she immediately clarifies her stance. Knowing Rama’s wisdom, she says 'na shikshaye' (I am not teaching you). This reflects the respect of a wife for her husband and a devotee for the Lord. She frames her counsel as a 'reminder' (smaraye) borne of affection. Her goal is not to challenge Rama’s intellect but to awaken his discernment. She pleads that even while holding the bow, Rama must guard against adopting the violent mindset that befell the sage in her parable.

यहाँ सीता जी की विनम्रता और मर्यादा का अद्भुत दर्शन होता है। इतना प्रबल तर्क देने के बाद, वे तुरंत अपनी स्थिति स्पष्ट करती हैं। वे जानती हैं कि श्रीराम ज्ञानी हैं, इसलिए वे कहती हैं 'न शिक्षये' (मैं सिखा नहीं रही हूँ)। यह एक पत्नी का पति के प्रति, और एक भक्त का भगवान के प्रति सम्मान है। वे कहती हैं कि यह 'स्मारये' (स्मरण कराना) है। उनका उद्देश्य श्रीराम के अहंकार को चोट पहुँचाना नहीं, बल्कि उनके विवेक को जागृत करना है। वे अनुरोध करती हैं कि धनुष हाथ में होने पर भी श्रीराम को उस मुनि जैसी हिंसक बुद्धि नहीं अपनानी चाहिए।
