Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
धर्मिष्टः सत्य सन्धः च पितुः निर्देश कारकः ।
त्वयि धर्मः च सत्यम् च त्वयि सर्वम् प्रतिष्टितम् ॥३-९-७॥
dharmiṣṭaḥ satya sandhaḥ ca pituḥ nirdeśa kārakaḥ । tvayi dharmaḥ ca satyam ca tvayi sarvam pratiṣṭitam ॥3-9-7॥
Translation
You are most righteous, true to your promise, and obedient to your father's command. In you, righteousness, truth, and everything are established.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम धर्म के ज्ञाता (धर्मिष्ठ) हो, सत्य प्रतिज्ञ हो और पिता की आज्ञा का पालन करने वाले हो। तुममें ही धर्म और सत्य सब कुछ प्रतिष्ठित है।
English Commentary
In this verse, Sita extols Rama's virtues to the highest degree. She acknowledges him as dharmiṣṭaḥ (most righteous), satya sandhaḥ (bound to truth), and the obedient executor of his father's will. The phrase tvayi sarvam pratiṣṭitam (everything is established in you) suggests that she views him as the very embodiment of Dharma. However, this praise serves a specific rhetorical purpose. By reminding Rama of his supreme dedication to Dharma and Truth, she is preparing to ask him whether indiscriminate killing of demons—simply because of a warrior's promise—is consistent with that high standard of Dharma. She validates his identity before questioning his methodology in the forest.

यह सीता द्वारा राम की स्तुति का चरम बिंदु है। वे राम को 'धर्मिष्ठ' (सबसे अधिक धार्मिक) और 'सत्य संधः' (सत्य की प्रतिज्ञा वाले) कहती हैं। वे यह भी मानती हैं कि वनवास पिता की आज्ञा (पितुः निर्देश) के कारण हुआ है। 'त्वयि सर्वम् प्रतिष्ठितम्' (तुममें सब कुछ स्थित है) कहकर वे राम को धर्म का साक्षात स्वरूप मानती हैं। लेकिन यहाँ एक विरोधाभास (Irony) छिपा है। सीता यह सब प्रशंसा इसलिए कर रही हैं क्योंकि वे मानती हैं कि राम इतने महान हैं कि उन्हें 'बिना कारण' राक्षसों को मारने जैसा छोटा काम शोभा नहीं देता। वे राम को उनके अपने ही उच्च मानकों (High standards) की याद दिला रही हैं। वे कह रही हैं—"आप साक्षात धर्म हैं, तो फिर आप वह हिंसा क्यों करेंगे जिसका आपसे सीधा संबंध नहीं है؟"
