Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अरोगस्तरुणो वाग्मी वपुष्मान् देशकालवित् ।
लोके पुरुषसारज्ञस्साधुरेको विनिर्मितः ॥२-१-१८॥
arogastaruṇo vāgmī vapuṣmān deśakālavit |
loke puruṣasārajñassādhureko vinirmitaḥ ॥2-1-18॥
Translation
He (Sri Rama) is free from disease, youthful, eloquent, possessed of a handsome form, and acts according to time and place. He knows the essence of men in this world and has been created as the one truly virtuous person on earth.

वे (श्री राम) रोगरहित, युवा, उत्तम वक्ता, सुंदर शरीर वाले और देश-काल के ज्ञाता हैं। वे संसार में मनुष्यों के सार (गुण-दोष) को पहचानने वाले हैं और (ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि) विधाता ने उन्हें पृथ्वी पर एकमात्र अद्वितीय 'साधु' (सज्जन) पुरुष के रूप में निर्मित किया है।
English Commentary
In this verse, the narrative highlights the physical perfection and administrative acumen of Sri Rama, reinforcing his suitability as the Prince Regent (Yuvaraja). A ruler requires vitality and presence; hence Rama is described as aroga (healthy), taruna (youthful), and vapushman (handsome). However, physical charm is matched by practical wisdom. Being deshakalavit, Rama possesses the strategic awareness to act appropriately according to time and place. Perhaps the most critical trait for a future king mentioned here is purushasarajnah—the ability to discern the essence of people. Rama can judge the true character of subjects, ministers, and enemies alike. Valmiki concludes with high praise, stating sadhu eko vinirmitah, implying that in the creation of Rama, the Creator has fashioned a unique, singular model of virtue and goodness.
