लोके रामस्य बुबुधे संप्रियत्वं महात्मनः ।
आत्मनश्च प्रजानां च श्रेयसे च प्रियेण च ॥२-१-४४॥
Loke rāmasya bubudhe saṃpriyatvaṃ mahātmanaḥ |
Ātmanaśca prajānāṃ ca śreyase ca priyeṇa ca ॥2-1-44॥
Translation
King Dasaratha realized the immense popularity of the great-souled Rama among the people. He understood that [crowning Rama] would be for the ultimate welfare and immediate happiness of both himself and his subjects.

राजा दशरथ ने देखा कि राम की प्रजा में कितनी प्रियता है। उन्होंने समझा कि राम को राजगद्दी पर बिठाना न केवल उनके अपने लिए, बल्कि प्रजाओं के लिए भी कल्याणकारी और प्रिय होगा।
