Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
निश्चित्य मनसा कृत्यम् सा सम्यगिति भामिनी ।
मन्थरायै श्नः सर्वमाच्चक्षे विचक्षणा ॥२-१०-२॥
Niścitya manasā kṛtyam sā samyagiti bhāminī |
Mantharāyai śvaḥ sarvam ācacakṣe vicakṣaṇā ॥2-10-2॥
Translation
That intelligent (yet deluded) woman, having decided in her mind that this course of action was correct, declared to Manthara that she would accomplish it all tomorrow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस विदुषी (लेकिन अब भ्रमित) भामिनी ने मन में निश्चय कर लिया कि यही कार्य (राम का वनवास) उचित है। उसने मंथरा को बताया कि कल (श्वः) मैं यह सब करवाऊँगी।
English Commentary
The term 'vicakṣaṇā' (intelligent/clear-sighted) used for Kaikeyi here is ironic. While she is strategically sharp in executing the plan, her moral vision is clouded. She has convinced herself that this villainous act is 'samyak' (correct/proper). The reference to 'śvaḥ' (tomorrow) is critical, as that is the day of the coronation. Kaikeyi assures Manthara that she has resolved to act decisively at the critical moment, turning the celebration into a tragedy.

यहाँ कैकेयी के लिए 'विचक्षणा' (विदुषी/बुद्धिमान) शब्द का प्रयोग व्यंग्यात्मक भी हो सकता है और यह भी दिखा सकता है कि वह अपनी योजना में चतुर है। उसने मान लिया है कि मंथरा का बताया रास्ता ही 'सम्यक' (सही) है। 'श्वः' (कल) महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि कल ही राम का अभिषेक होना है। कैकेयी ने समय का महत्व समझ लिया है—वार तभी करना है जब लोहा गरम हो। वह मंथरा को आश्वस्त करती है कि योजना पक्की है।
