Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तत्ते व्यपनयिष्यामि नीहरमिव र्श्मिवान् ।
तथोक्ता सा समास्वस्ता वक्तुकामा तदप्रियम् ॥ ॥२-१०-४०॥
Tatte vyapanayiṣyāmi nīhāramiva raśmivān । Tathoktā sā samāsvastā vaktukāmā tadapriyam ॥ ॥2-10-40॥
Translation
I will remove that (fear) for you, just as the sun (remover of darkness) removes the mist. Being addressed thus, she felt reassured and wished to speak that unpleasant thing.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे सूर्य कोहरे को हटा देता है, वैसे ही मैं तुम्हारे उस भय को दूर कर दूंगा। ऐसा कहे जाने पर वह (कैकेयी) आश्वस्त हुई और वह अप्रिय बात कहने की इच्छा करने लगी।
English Commentary
Dasharatha uses the metaphor of the sun dissipating mist to describe how easily he will solve her problem. This arrogance of capability is his undoing. The verse notes that Kaikeyi is now samāsvastā (reassured/confident). She wasn't comforted by his love, but by the certainty of his entrapment. Having secured the necessary guarantees, she prepares to deliver the apriyam (unpleasant/hateful) demand. This marks the point of no return.

दशरथ अपनी तुलना 'रश्मिवान्' (सूर्य) से करते हैं जो 'नीहारम्' (कोहरा/धुंध) को मिटा देता है। यह उपमा उनके आत्मविश्वास को दर्शाती है। जैसे ही राजा ने पूर्ण आश्वासन दिया, कैकेयी 'समास्वस्ता' (आश्वस्त) हो गई। अब उसे यकीन हो गया कि शिकार जाल में पूरी तरह फंस चुका है। अब वह अपनी 'अप्रिय' बात कहने के लिए तैयार है। यहाँ सर्ग 10 समाप्त होता है। दशरथ ने अनजाने में अपने विनाश का मार्ग साफ कर दिया है।
