कच्चिदग्निषु ते युक्तो विधिज्ञो मतिमानृजु: ।
हुतं च होष्यमाणं च काले वेदयते सदा ॥ ॥२-१००-१३॥
Kaccidagniṣu te yukto vidhijño matimānṛjuḥ । Hutaṃ ca hoṣyamāṇaṃ ca kāle vedayate sadā ॥ ॥2-100-13॥
Translation
Is the priest appointed for your fire rituals—who is knowledgeable in procedures, intelligent, and upright—always informing you in time about the oblations already offered and those yet to be offered?

क्या अग्निहोत्र आदि कार्यों में नियुक्त, विधियों का ज्ञाता, बुद्धिमान और सरल स्वभाव वाला तुम्हारा ऋत्विक, तुम्हें सदैव हवन हो चुके और हवन किए जाने वाले कार्यों की समय पर सूचना देता है?
English Commentary
This verse focuses on the meticulousness required in Vedic duties. The King is responsible for maintaining the cosmic order through Yajna. Rama asks about the officiating priest's competence (vidhijna) and integrity (riju - straight/upright). The emphasis on kale (timeliness) regarding what has been offered (hutam) and what is to be offered (hoshyamanam) underscores that spiritual duties cannot be delayed or performed haphazardly. In a broader sense, it teaches that a leader must be kept accurately informed about the status of ongoing projects (rituals) by competent subordinates.

वैदिक संस्कृति में राजा का जीवन यज्ञों से बंधा होता था। 'काले' (समय पर) शब्द यहाँ अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। यज्ञ में मुहूर्त और समय का पालन ही फलदायी होता है। राम पूछ रहे हैं कि क्या भरत का ऋत्विक 'ऋजु:' (सरल/कपट रहित) है और उसे विधि का ज्ञान है? राजा का कर्तव्य है कि वह सुनिश्चित करे कि राष्ट्र की समृद्धि के लिए आवश्यक दैवीय अनुष्ठान सही समय और सही विधि से हो रहे हैं। यह प्रशासन में समय की पाबंदी (punctuality) और प्रक्रिया (procedure) के महत्व को भी दर्शाता है।
