Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बलवन्तश्च कच्चित्ते मुख्या युद्धविशारदा: ।
दृष्टापदाना विक्रान्तास्त्वया सत्कृत्य मानिता: ॥ ॥२-१००-३२॥
Balavantaśca kaccitte mukhyā yuddhaviśāradāḥ । Dṛṣṭāpadānā vikrāntāstvayā satkṛtya mānitāḥ ॥ ॥2-100-32॥
Translation
Are the chief warriors in your army—who are mighty, skilled in warfare, and whose valorous deeds have been witnessed—duly honored and respected by you?

क्या तुम अपनी सेना के उन मुख्य योद्धाओं का सत्कार और सम्मान करते हो जो बलवान हैं, युद्धकला में निपुण हैं, और जिनके पराक्रम (अपदान) पहले देखे जा चुके हैं?
English Commentary
This verse addresses the recognition of merit within the military. It refers to the elite corps (Mukhyah)—the special forces or unit commanders. Drishtapadana means those whose achievements have been seen/verified. Rama insists that these proven warriors must be Satkritya Manitah (honored with ceremonies/respect). Military loyalty relies heavily on honor culture; soldiers fight for glory and the King's recognition. Neglecting to honor a hero is the quickest way to kill the martial spirit of the army.

सेनापति के बाद अब 'कमांडरों' और 'वीरों' की बात है। 'दृष्टापदाना' का अर्थ है जिनका पराक्रम प्रमाणित हो चुका है (Proven Track Record)। ऐसे वीरों का केवल वेतन देना काफी नहीं, उन्हें 'मानिता:' (सम्मानित) करना आवश्यक है। सैनिकों के लिए सम्मान (Medals/Honors) पैसे से बड़ा होता है। राम जानते हैं कि सेना का मनोबल बनाए रखने के लिए वीरों की सार्वजनिक प्रशंसा और पुरस्कार वितरण राजा का कर्तव्य है।
