कच्चिन्न लोकायतिकान् ब्राह्मणांस्तात सेवसे ।
अनर्थकुशला ह्येते बाला: पण्डितमानिन: ॥ ॥२-१००-३९॥
Kaccinna lokāyatikān brāhmaṇāṃstāta sevase । Anarthakuśalā hyete bālāḥ paṇḍitamāninaḥ ॥ ॥2-100-39॥
Translation
Dear brother, I hope you do not patronize the Lokayatikas (materialist philosophers). These men, claiming to be learned but actually childish, are skilled only in bringing about specialized destruction (or arguing for useless causes).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे तात! क्या तुम उन लोकायतिक (नास्तिक/भौतिकवादी) ब्राह्मणों की सेवा (संगति) तो नहीं करते? ये अज्ञान को ही ज्ञान मानने वाले, स्वयं को पण्डित समझने वाले और अनर्थ करने में ही कुशल होते हैं।
English Commentary
Rama cautions Bharata against the influence of Lokayatikas (materialists/atheists) who rely solely on dry logic and reject scriptural authority. While they may appear intellectual, Rama describes them as bālāḥ (childish/immature) and paṇḍitamāninaḥ (arrogant, thinking themselves wise). He terms them anarthakuśalā—skilled in creating calamity or uselessness. By using dialectics to tear down established moral and social structures without offering constructive alternatives, they create confusion and erode the ethical foundation of the state. For a ruler, indulging in such cynical philosophy can lead to a loss of moral clarity and purpose.

यहाँ राम 'लोकायत' विचारधारा (जिसे चार्वाक दर्शन भी कहा जाता है) का पालन करने वाले बुद्धिजीवियों से बचने की सलाह देते हैं। ये लोग वेदों और धर्मशास्त्रों की निंदा करते हैं और केवल प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण (जो आँखों से दिखे) को मानते हैं। राम उन्हें 'अनर्थकुशला' कहते हैं क्योंकि वे तर्क-वितर्क (कुतर्क) में माहिर होते हैं, जिससे समाज में भ्रम और नैतिक पतन होता है। वे 'पण्डितमानिन:' हैं—यानी वे वास्तव में ज्ञानी नहीं हैं, बस खुद को ज्ञानी मानते हैं। राजा के लिए ऐसे लोगों की संगति हानिकारक है क्योंकि वे उसे धर्मपथ से विचलित कर सकते हैं।
