कच्चित् स्त्रिय: सान्त्वयसि कच्चित्ताश्च सुरक्षिता: ।
कच्चिन्न श्रद्दधास्यासां कच्चिद् गुह्यं न भाषसे ॥ ॥२-१००-५०॥
Kaccit striyaḥ sāntvayasi kaccittāśca surakṣitāḥ । Kaccinna śraddadhāsyāsāṃ kaccid guhyaṃ na bhāṣase ॥ ॥2-100-50॥
Translation
Do you comfort the women and treat them gently? Are they well-protected? Do you ensure you do not place undue trust in them (regarding state affairs), and do you refrain from sharing secret matters with them?

क्या तुम स्त्रियों को सांत्वना (आदर और मधुर वचन) देते हो? क्या वे पूर्णतः सुरक्षित हैं? क्या तुम उन पर (राजनीतिक रहस्यों के मामले में) पूर्ण विश्वास तो नहीं करते और क्या तुम उनसे कोई गुप्त बात तो नहीं कहते?
English Commentary
This verse balances social chivalry with political pragmatism. Firstly, Rama insists on the welfare of women, asking if they are comforted (sāntvayasi) and physically protected (surakṣitāḥ), establishing the King's role as their guardian. Secondly, he advises caution regarding statecraft. In the context of ancient Rajaniti (statecraft), a King is advised not to confide vital state secrets (guhyam) to anyone not sworn to the council, including women of the household, to prevent espionage or emotional manipulation. This is not a reflection on their character, but a strict protocol of operational security for the sovereign.
