कच्चित्ते ब्राह्मणा: शर्म सर्वशास्त्रार्थकोविदा: ।
आशंसन्ते महाप्राज्ञ पौरजानपदै: सह ॥ ॥२-१००-६५॥
Kaccitte brāhmaṇāḥ śarma sarvaśāstrārthakovidāḥ । Āśaṃsante mahāprājña paurajānapadaiḥ saha ॥ ॥2-100-65॥
Translation
O highly wise one, do the Brahmins versed in all scriptures, along with the citizens of the city (Pauras) and the people of the country (Janapadas), pray for your welfare and happiness?
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महाप्राज्ञ! क्या सभी शास्त्रों के अर्थ को जानने वाले विद्वान ब्राह्मण और नगर तथा जनपद के निवासी तुम्हारी सुख-शांति (शर्म) की प्रार्थना करते हैं?
English Commentary
This refers to the King's "Approval Rating" and moral legitimacy. Rama asks if the intellectual elite (Brāhmaṇāḥ—knowers of Shastras) and the general populace (Paura-Janapada) genuinely pray for Bharata's śarma (welfare/happiness). In the Vedic worldview, the collective goodwill and prayers of the subjects act as a spiritual shield for the King. If the people are discontented, their silent curse is considered dangerous. A King is only secure when his subjects voluntarily wish for his longevity.

लोकतंत्र में 'जनमत' (Public Opinion) ही सब कुछ है। राम यहाँ 'अप्रूवल रेटिंग' (Approval Rating) की बात कर रहे हैं। यदि विद्वान वर्ग (बुद्धिजीवी) और आम जनता (पौर-जानपद) राजा के सुख की कामना नहीं करते, तो इसका अर्थ है कि राजा अलोकप्रिय है। 'आशंसन्ते' का अर्थ है कि वे स्वेच्छा से, बिना किसी दबाव के, राजा की भलाई चाहते हैं। यह राजा की सफलता का अंतिम प्रमाण पत्र (Certificate) है—जब प्रजा दिल से कहे, "हमारा राजा सुखी रहे।"
