Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
निष्प्रधानामनेकाग्रां नरेन्द्रेण विना कृताम् ।
निवृत्तवनवासोपि नायोध्यां गन्तुमुत्सहे ॥ ॥२-१०२-११॥
Niṣpradhānāmanekāgrāṃ narendreṇa vinā kṛtām । Nivṛttavanavāsopi nāyodhyāṃ gantumutsahe ॥ ॥2-102-11॥
Translation
Even after my exile is over, I do not feel inclined to go to Ayodhya, which is now rendered leaderless and in disarray without the Lord of Men.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा के बिना प्रमुख (मुखिया) से रहित और एकाग्रता से हीन (अव्यवस्थित) उस अयोध्या में, वनवास समाप्त होने पर भी, मैं जाने का उत्साह नहीं रखता।
English Commentary
This verse reveals Rama’s depression. The city of Ayodhya, defined by the presence of King Dasharatha, now seems empty to him. He describes the city as Nishpradhanam (headless/leaderless) and Anekagram (lacking focus/scattered order). Rama declares that even after fulfilling his 14-year vow, he has no Utsaha (enthusiasm) to return. This serves to negate any suspicion that Rama might rush back now that the throne is vacant. His attachment was to the person (Dasharatha), not the place or position.

पिता की मृत्यु ने राम के मन में अयोध्या के प्रति विरक्ति उत्पन्न कर दी है। राम के अनुसार, राज्य की शोभा राजा से होती है। 'निष्प्रधानाम्' का अर्थ है जिसका मस्तक/प्रधान ही नहीं रहा। 'अनेकाग्राम्' (अनेक-अग्र) का अर्थ है व्याकुल या जिसके कई केंद्र हो गए हों (अराजकता)। राम कहते हैं कि 14 वर्ष बाद भी लौटने का क्या लाभ, जब वहां स्वागत करने के लिए पिताजी ही नहीं होंगे? यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि राम का राज्य-प्रेम केवल पिता के कारण था, सत्ता के लोभ के कारण नहीं।
