महाबलानां रुदतां कुर्वतामुदकं पितु: ।
विज्ञाय तुमुलं शब्दं त्रस्ता भरतसैनिका: ॥ ॥२-१०२-३४॥
Mahābalānāṃ rudatāṃ kurvatāmudakaṃ pituḥ । Vijñāya tumulaṃ śabdaṃ trastā bharatasainikāḥ ॥ ॥2-102-34॥
Translation
Hearing the tumultuous sound of those mighty ones weeping while offering water to their father, Bharata's soldiers were alarmed.

पिता को जलांजलि देते हुए उन महाबली राजकुमारों के रोने का तुमुल (घोर) शब्द सुनकर भरत के सैनिक भयभीत (चकित) हो गए।
English Commentary
This verse captures the reaction of the army camped nearby. The silence of the forest is shattered by a 'tumulam shabdam' (tumultuous noise). The soldiers are 'trasta' (alarmed/frightened), realizing that this is no ordinary sound. The descriptor 'mahabalanam' (of the mighty ones) indicates that the intensity of the grief matched the immense strength of the heroes. The soldiers, fiercely loyal and protective, are immediately put on high alert, sensing that their leaders are in distress. It sets the stage for the mass movement of the army towards the source of the sound.
