Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अथ वासान् परित्यज्य तं सर्वे ऽभिमुखा: स्वनम् ।
अप्येकमनसो जग्मुर्यथास्थानं प्रधाविता: ॥ ॥२-१०२-३६॥
Atha vāsān parityajya taṃ sarve 'bhimukhāḥ svanam । Apyekamanaso jagmuryathāsthānaṃ pradhāvitāḥ ॥ ॥2-102-36॥
Translation
Then, abandoning their quarters, all of them ran from their respective places towards that sound, their minds fixed on one single purpose.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, अपने शिविरों (निवास स्थानों) को छोड़कर वे सभी एक ही विचार (राम दर्शन) से युक्त होकर, उस आवाज़ की दिशा में अपने-अपने स्थानों से दौड़ पड़े।
English Commentary
The sheer magnetism of Rama is evident here. 'Vasan parityajya' (abandoning their camps) implies a spontaneous, uncontrollable mass movement. The term 'ekamanaso' (single-minded) unifies the diverse crowd into a singular entity driven by the desire to see Rama. Rank, duty, and order are momentarily forgotten in the face of devotion. The imagery of everyone running ('pradhavitah') towards the sound of weeping highlights that for the people of Ayodhya, sharing in Rama's grief and seeing his face is more important than their own comfort or military discipline.

राम के प्रति प्रजा का प्रेम यहाँ वेगवती नदी की तरह उमड़ पड़ा है। 'वासान् परित्यज्य' (आवासों को छोड़कर) का अर्थ है कि वे जो काम कर रहे थे, उसे वहीं छोड़कर भाग पड़े। 'एक-मनसो' (एक मन वाले) बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पद है—पूरी सेना और नागरिकों का अब केवल एक ही लक्ष्य है: राम के दर्शन। अनुशासन और प्रोटोकॉल यहाँ गौण हो गए हैं; प्रेम और उत्सुकता प्रधान है। 'प्रधाविता:' (दौड़े) शब्द उस आतुरता को व्यक्त करता है जो वर्षों के बिछोह के बाद मिलने पर होती है, भले ही बिछोह कुछ ही दिनों का हो।
