इदमिक्ष्वाकुनाथस्य राघवस्य महात्मन: ।
राघवेण पितुर्दत्तं पश्यतैतद्यथाविधि ॥ ॥२-१०३-१०॥
Idamikṣvākunāthasya rāghavasya mahātmana: । Rāghaveṇa piturdattaṃ paśyataitadyathāvidhi ॥ ॥2-103-10॥
Translation
"Behold this offering given in accordance with the rules by Raghava (Rama) to the high-souled Raghava (Dasharatha), the Lord of the Ikshvakus."

इक्ष्वाकुनाथ महात्मा राघव (दशरथ) के लिए राघव (राम) द्वारा विधिपूर्वक दिए गए इस (पिंड) को आप सब देखें।
English Commentary
Kausalya deliberately uses grand titles like "Ikṣvākunātha" (Lord of the Ikshvakus) and "Mahātmana" (Great-souled) to heighten the irony of the situation. She invites the other queens to witness the stark contrast between the status of the recipient—an Emperor—and the meager offering he receives. The repetition of "Raghava" for both father and son emphasizes the lineage they share, yet underscores the tragic disparity in their current states. By noting that it was done "yathāvidhi" (according to rule), she acknowledges Rama’s devotion and correctness, implying that while the ritual intent is perfect, the material poverty of the offering is what pierces the heart.

इस श्लोक में 'इक्ष्वाकुनाथ' और 'महात्मनः' जैसे भारी-भरकम विशेषणों का प्रयोग कौसल्या ने जानबूझकर किया है ताकि विडंबना को उभारा जा सके। वह इंगित कर रही हैं कि जो इक्ष्वाकु वंश का स्वामी था, उसे आज क्या प्राप्त हो रहा है। यहाँ 'राघव' शब्द का प्रयोग पिता और पुत्र दोनों के लिए किया गया है, जो वंश की निरंतरता और वर्तमान परिस्थिति के बीच के अंतरविरोध को दर्शाता है। 'यथाविधि' (विधिपूर्वक) कहकर कौसल्या यह स्वीकार करती हैं कि राम ने शास्त्र में कोई कमी नहीं छोड़ी, परंतु संसाधन (सामग्री) की कमी ने इस विधि को कितना दयनीय बना दिया है, यही उनकी वेदना का मूल है।
