तस्य देवसमानस्य पार्थिवस्य महात्मन: ।
नैतदौपयिकं मन्ये भुक्तभोगस्य भोजनम् ॥ ॥२-१०३-११॥
Tasya devasamānasya pārthivasya mahātmana: । Naitadaupayikaṃ manye bhuktabhogasya bhojanam ॥ ॥2-103-11॥
Translation
"I do not consider this food fit for that god-like, high-souled King who has enjoyed all the pleasures of life."

उन देवतुल्य, नाना प्रकार के भोगों को भोगने वाले महात्मा राजा के लिए मैं इस भोजन को योग्य नहीं मानती।
English Commentary
Kausalya speaks here both as a grieving wife and a mother witnessing her son's poverty. She recalls the grandeur of Dasharatha, describing him as "devasamāna" (god-like) and "bhuktabhoga" (one who has enjoyed all luxuries). Her statement, "I do not consider this fit," is not a rejection of the ritual validity, but an emotional refusal to accept the degradation of her husband's status. It highlights the psychological dissonance of seeing a man who commanded the wealth of the earth reduced to receiving what is essentially cattle feed. It is a cry of helplessness against the cruel turns of fate.

माता कौसल्या का मातृत्व और पत्नीत्व यहाँ एक साथ बोल रहा है। उन्होंने दशरथ के राजसी ठाठ-बाट और उनके भोजन के स्तर को देखा है। 'भुक्तभोगस्य' (जिसने समस्त भोगों का आनंद लिया हो) और 'देवसमानस्य' (देवता समान) विशेषण दशरथ के अतीत की विलासिता को याद दिलाते हैं। कौसल्या का कहना है कि 'औपयिकं न मन्ये' (मैं इसे उचित नहीं मानती) शास्त्र का विरोध नहीं है, बल्कि एक पत्नी की भावनात्मक अस्वीकृति है। उन्हें यह स्वीकार करने में कष्ट हो रहा है कि वह राजा, जिसके लिए छप्पन भोग लगते थे, अब इस रूखे-सूखे वन-अन्न से तृप्त होगा। यह प्रेम और असहायता की चरम अभिव्यक्ति है।
