एभिश्च सचिवै: सार्द्धं शिरसा याचितो मया ।
भ्रातु: शिष्यस्य दासस्य प्रसादं कर्त्तुमर्हसि ॥ ॥२-१०४-१२॥
Ebhischa sachivaih sardham shirasa yachito maya |
Bhratuh shishyasya dasasya prasadam kartumarhasi ॥2-104-12॥
Translation
Bowing my head along with these ministers, I beg of you. It befits you to show grace unto me—your brother, disciple, and servant.

इन मंत्रियों के सहित मैं अपना मस्तक झुकाकर आपसे याचना करता हूँ। आप मुझ भाई, शिष्य और दास पर प्रसन्न हों (अर्थात मेरी प्रार्थना स्वीकार करें)।
English Commentary
In this verse, Bharata reaches the zenith of humility and supplication. He presents himself not merely as a younger brother, but as a disciple and a servant (dasa), invoking the ancient code where a master or guru is obliged to care for their dependents. By mentioning that he is pleading alongside the ministers (sachivaih sardham), Bharata emphasizes that his request carries the weight of the entire state administration, not just his personal desire. He effectively places the burden of 'grace' (prasadam) on Rama, suggesting that rejecting a humble servant and brother would be out of character for the compassionate Rama.
