तत: पुरुषसिंहानां वृतानां तै: सुहृद्गणै: ।
शोचतामेव रजनी दु:खेन व्यत्यवर्त्तत ॥ ॥२-१०५-१॥
Tatah purushasimhanam vritanam taih suhridganaih |
Shochatameva rajani duhkhena vyatyavarttata ॥2-105-1॥
Translation
Then, the night passed painfully for those lions among men, surrounded by their groups of friends, as they continued to grieve.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, उन सुहृदों (मित्रों/मंत्रियों) से घिरे हुए उन पुरुषसिंहों (राम, लक्ष्मण, भरत, शत्रुघ्न) की वह रात शोक करते हुए ही दुःखपूर्वक बीती।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts to the passage of time. Despite the high philosophical discourse of the previous verses, the emotional reality is somber. The brothers are described as "lions among men," yet they are consumed by grief. The presence of suhridganaih (friends and well-wishers) offers company but not a solution. The verse highlights the human aspect of the avatars; the intellectual resolution provided by Rama has not yet healed the emotional wound of the impending separation, making the night pass "painfully."

१०४वें सर्ग में राम के दृढ़ तर्कों के बाद रात्रि हो जाती है। यह श्लोक उस रात्रि के वातावरण का वर्णन करता है। यद्यपि राम ने दार्शनिक बातें कहीं, फिर भी विछोह का दुःख गहरा है। 'पुरुषसिंहानां' (पुरुषों में सिंह) विशेषण चारों भाइयों के लिए है, जो यह दर्शाता है कि वे वीर और धैर्यवान हैं, फिर भी मानवीय भावनाओं से अछूते नहीं हैं। भाई एक-दूसरे के साथ हैं, मंत्री और मित्र साथ हैं, लेकिन कोई समाधान न निकलने के कारण रात भारी मन और शोक ('शोचतामेव') में बीती।
