यथा हि सार्थं गच्छन्तं ब्रूयात् कश्चित् पथि स्थित: ।
अहमप्यागमिष्यामि पृष्ठतो भवतामिति ॥२-१०५-२९॥
yathā hi sārthaṃ gacchantaṃ brūyāt kaścit pathi sthitaḥ |
ahamapyāgamiṣyāmi pṛṣṭhato bhavatāmiti ॥2-105-29॥
Translation
Just as someone standing on the road might say to a caravan passing by, "I too will come following behind you."

जैसे मार्ग पर खड़े होकर कोई व्यक्ति गुजरते हुए यात्रियों के समूह (सार्थ) से कहे—"मैं भी आप लोगों के पीछे-पीछे आऊँगा।"
English Commentary
Rama uses the imagery of a caravan ("sartham") to normalize the process of dying. In ancient times, travelers moved in groups for safety. If one sees a group moving ahead, the natural response for someone on the same path is to say, "I will follow you," rather than trying to stop them. Rama likens the ancestors and the dying to this leading caravan. We are all on the same road. Addressing the departing soul with "I will follow" acknowledges the shared destiny of all beings. It reframes death from a tragic separation to a mere difference in travel time—some are ahead, some are behind, but the destination is the same.

राम यहाँ जीवन यात्रा को एक 'सार्थ' (कारवां/यात्रियों का समूह) की उपमा देते हैं। हम सभी एक ही मार्ग के पथिक हैं। जब हम किसी कारवां को जाते देखते हैं और जानते हैं कि हमें भी उसी दिशा में जाना है, तो हम उनसे यह नहीं कहते कि "तुम मत जाओ", बल्कि हम कहते हैं "मैं भी पीछे आ रहा हूँ"। यह दृष्टांत मृत्यु के संदर्भ में है। पूर्वज आगे चले गए हैं (कारवां), और हम (पथिक) पीछे कतार में हैं। यह एक सहज प्रक्रिया है। इसमें विद्रोह या दुख का स्थान नहीं है, बल्कि अनुगमन (following) का भाव है। यह श्लोक जीवन को एक यात्रा के रूप में देखने का दृष्टिकोण प्रदान करता है।
