तूष्णीं ते समुपासीना न कश्चित्किञ्चिदब्रवीत् ।
भरतस्तु सुहृन्मध्ये रामं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ ॥२-१०५-३॥
Tushnim te samupasina na kashchitkinchidabravit |
Bharatastu suhrinmadhye ramam vachanamabravit ॥2-105-3॥
Translation
They sat there in silence; no one spoke a word. Then, amidst the friends, Bharata spoke these words to Rama.

वे सब (राम के सामने) चुपचाप बैठ गए, कोई कुछ नहीं बोला। तब मित्रों के बीच में भरत ने राम से यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
A dramatic silence pervades the scene. The phrase na kashchitkinchidabravit (no one said anything) emphasizes the awe and hesitation the assembly feels before Rama's resolve. The silence is heavy with the weight of the previous day's failed arguments. Bharata, as the primary stakeholder and the one most affected, takes the initiative. Speaking "amidst friends" implies he is voicing the collective desire of the group, not just his own, breaking the deadlock with a new proposition.
