सान्त्विता मामिका माता दत्तं राज्यमिदं मम ।
तद्ददामि तवैवाहं भुङ्क्ष्व राज्यमकण्टकम् ॥ ॥२-१०५-४॥
Santvita mamika mata dattam rajyamidam mama |
Taddadami tavaivaham bhunkshva rajyamakantakam ॥2-105-4॥
Translation
"My mother has been appeased (her demand met), and this kingdom has been given to me. I now give that very kingdom to you. Enjoy the thornless sovereignty."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(भरत बोले:) मेरी माता को सांत्वना दे दी गई (उनका वरदान पूरा हुआ), और यह राज्य मुझे दे दिया गया। अब मैं वही राज्य आपको देता हूँ। आप इस निष्कंटक राज्य का भोग करें।
English Commentary
Bharata attempts a brilliant loophole here. He acknowledges the validity of the boon: his mother is satisfied (santvita) and the title deed has transferred to him. However, he argues that ownership implies the right to transfer property. If the kingdom is truly his, he has the right to gift it. He essentially says, "Fine, strictly speaking, it is mine. So, I am exercising my right as owner to give it to you." He urges Rama to enjoy the kingdom which is now akantakam (thornless/disputed-free) because the "owner" is voluntarily surrendering it.

भरत जी यहाँ एक चतुर कूटनीतिक और तार्किक दांव खेलते हैं। राम का तर्क था कि "पिता ने राज्य तुम्हें दिया है, इसलिए तुम्हें रखना होगा।" भरत उसका उत्तर देते हैं: "ठीक है, पिता की आज्ञा से और माँ की तुष्टि से राज्य मेरा हो गया है। अब चूँकि मैं इसका स्वामी हूँ, तो मुझे इसे किसी को भी देने का अधिकार है। मैं अपने अधिकार का प्रयोग करते हुए यह आपको भेंट करता हूँ।" भरत 'दान' की प्रक्रिया के माध्यम से पिता की आज्ञा का उल्लंघन किए बिना राज्य राम को लौटाने का मार्ग खोज रहे हैं।
