तद्वच: पितुरेवाहं सम्मतं धर्मचारिण: ।
कर्मणा पालयिष्यामि वनवासेन राघव ॥२-१०५-४३॥
tadvacaḥ piturevāhaṃ sammataṃ dharmacāriṇaḥ |
karmaṇā pālayiṣyāmi vanavāsena rāghava ॥2-105-43॥
Translation
O Raghava (Bharata)! I shall fulfill through action—by living in the forest—that accepted word of our father, who was a practicer of righteousness.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राघव (भरत)! मैं धर्म का आचरण करने वाले अपने पिता के उस वचन का, जिसे सभी ने स्वीकार किया है, वनवास (रूपी कर्म) द्वारा पालन करूँगा।
English Commentary
Rama explicitly states his resolve: he will execute the father's will through the specific act of 'Vanavasa' (exile). He views this not as a punishment, but as an active fulfillment ('Palayishyami' - I will protect/observe) of a sacred vow. Describing Dasharatha as 'Dharmacharinah' defends the King's integrity—implying the exile order was a product of adherence to Truth (Dharma), not merely a senile wife-infatuated mistake. Rama positions his exile as a positive act of filial piety and dynastic honor. By addressing Bharata as Raghava, he calls upon him to share in this burden of upholding the family honor.

राम अपना अंतिम निर्णय सुनाते हैं। वे केवल बातों से नहीं, बल्कि 'कर्मणा' (कर्म से/आचरण से) पिता के वचन को सत्य सिद्ध करेंगे। 'वनवासेन' (वनवास के द्वारा) ही पिता का सत्य सुरक्षित रहेगा। राम दशरथ को 'धर्मचारिण:' कहते हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि कैकेयी को दिया गया वचन कोई भूल नहीं थी, बल्कि रघुकुल की सत्य-प्रतिज्ञा की परंपरा (धर्म) का हिस्सा था। राम भरत को भी 'राघव' कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, यह याद दिलाने के लिए कि वे दोनों उसी रघुकुल के हैं जहाँ 'प्राण जाए पर वचन न जाए'। राम का वन में रहना ही दशरथ के सत्य की रक्षा है।
