आत्मानमनुतिष्ट त्वं स्वभावेन नरर्षभ ।
निशाम्य तु शुभं वृत्तं पितुर्दशरथस्य न: ॥ ॥२-१०५-४५॥
Ātmānamanutiṣṭha tvaṃ svabhāvena nararṣabha । Niśāmya tu śubhaṃ vṛttaṃ piturdaśarathasya naḥ ॥ ॥2-105-45॥
Translation
O best among men, observing the auspicious conduct of our father Dasharatha, conduct yourself according to your own noble nature.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे नरश्रेष्ठ! हमारे पिता दशरथ के शुभ चरित्र (आचरण) को देखकर, तुम अपने स्वाभाविक क्षत्रिय धर्म और सत्स्वभाव के अनुसार आचरण करो।
English Commentary
Sri Rama addresses Bharata as Nararṣabha (bull among men), reinforcing his brother's strength and capacity to lead. The core of this advice lies in the word svabhāva (one's own nature). Rama urges Bharata not to be swayed by grief or emotion but to ground himself in his inherent noble nature. By invoking the "auspicious conduct" of King Dasharatha, Rama sets a precedent: just as their father lived by truth and honored his word, Bharata must align his actions with that legacy. It is a call to duty based not just on external command, but on internal integrity and lineage.

श्रीराम यहाँ भरत को 'नरर्षभ' (नरों में श्रेष्ठ) कह कर सम्बोधित करते हैं, जो भरत के मनोबल को बढ़ाने के लिए है। राम का उपदेश केवल पिता की आज्ञा पालन तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि वे भरत को 'स्वभाव' अर्थात् अपनी मूल प्रकृति—जो कि सत्वगुणी और धर्मपरायण है—में स्थित रहने को कहते हैं। राम यहाँ यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि पिता दशरथ का जीवन सत्य और वचन-पालन का प्रतीक था। भरत को उसी मर्यादा का पालन करते हुए राज्य स्वीकार करना चाहिए। यह श्लोक इंगित करता है कि दुख के समय भी व्यक्ति को अपने मूल स्वभाव और कुल की मर्यादा का त्याग नहीं करना चाहिए।
