इत्येवमुक्त्वा वचनं महात्मा पितुर्निदेशप्रतिपालनार्थम् ।
यवीयसं भ्रातरमर्थवच्च प्रभुर्मुहूर्ताद्विरराम राम: ॥ ॥२-१०५-४६॥
Ityevamuktvā vacanaṃ mahātmā piturnideśapratipālanārtham । Yavīyasaṃ bhrātaramarthavacca prabhurmuhūrtādvirarāma rāmaḥ ॥ ॥2-105-46॥
Translation
Having thus spoken meaningful words to his younger brother to ensure the observance of their father’s command, the mighty and magnanimous Rama fell silent for a while.

पिता की आज्ञा के पालन का महत्त्व समझाने के लिए अपने छोटे भाई (भरत) से इस प्रकार सार्थक वचन कहकर, प्रभावशाली महात्मा श्रीराम मुहूर्त भर के लिए चुप हो गए।
English Commentary
The usage of the epithets Mahātmā (great soul) and Prabhu (lord/capable one) highlights Rama's spiritual stature and authority. He does not speak excessively; his words are described as arthavat—full of meaning and purpose. The primary purpose is strictly to ensure the fulfillment of Dasharatha's command (pitur-nideśa). Rama’s subsequent silence is significant; it is the silence of a judge who has delivered a verdict, or a teacher who waits for the lesson to sink in. It creates a solemn space for Bharata to process the heavy duty regarding the kingdom that has been placed upon him.

इस श्लोक में राम के लिए 'प्रभु' और 'महात्मा' विशेषणों का प्रयोग अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। 'प्रभु' दर्शाता है कि वे समर्थ हैं और उनका निर्णय अंतिम है; 'महात्मा' उनकी उदारता और विशाल हृदय को दर्शाता है। राम ने बहुत अधिक न बोलकर, केवल 'अर्थवत्' (सारगर्भित) बातें कहीं। पिता के निर्देश का पालन ही यहाँ मुख्य विषय है। उपदेश देने के बाद राम का मौन हो जाना (विरराम) यह दर्शाता है कि उन्होंने अपना निर्णय सुना दिया है और अब वे भरत की प्रतिक्रिया सुनने के लिए धैर्यपूर्वक प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। यह मौन संवाद की गंभीरता को बढ़ाता है।
