कैकेयीं मां च तातं च सुहृदो बान्धवांश्च न: ।
पौरजानपदान् सर्वांस्त्रातु सर्वमिदं भवान् ॥ ॥२-१०६-१७॥
Kaikeyīṃ māṃ ca tātaṃ ca suhṛdo bāndhavāṃśca naḥ । Paurajānapadān sarvāṃstrātu sarvamidaṃ bhavān ॥ ॥2-106-17॥
Translation
Protect Kaikeyi, myself, our father, our friends and relatives, and all the citizens of the city and the country—save all of this (by returning).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(अयोध्या लौटकर) आप कैकेयी की, मेरी, पिता की, हमारे मित्रों और भाई-बंधुओं की, तथा पुर और जनपद के सभी निवासियों की—इन सबकी रक्षा करें।
English Commentary
Bharata appeals to Rama's protective nature (Kshatriya dharma). He lists everyone who needs saving (trātu): Kaikeyi (from her sin), Bharata (from the guilt of usurpation), the late King (from spiritual downfall), and the entire populace (Paura-janapada). Bharata posits Rama as the linchpin of Ayodhya’s existence. By refusing to return, Rama isn't just hurting himself; he is abandoning an entire ecosystem of relationships and dependents that relies on him for order and salvation. It is a utilitarian argument: the greatest good for the greatest number.

भरत यहाँ राम के लौटने के व्यापक प्रभाव (Universal good) को दर्शाते हैं। राम का लौटना केवल राज्याभिषेक नहीं है, बल्कि 'त्राण' (रक्षा) है। कैकेयी: पाप और विधवापन के कलंक से बचेगा। भरत: भ्रातृ-राज्य हड़पने के अपयश से बचेंगे। तात (दशरथ): वचन-भंग या अन्याय के पाप से मुक्त होंगे (उनकी आत्मा को शांति मिलेगी)। प्रजा: अनाथ होने से बचेगी। भरत यह कहना चाहते हैं कि 'एक सत्य' (पिता का वचन) के पालन के लिए 'सर्वस्व' का विनाश करना बुद्धिमानी नहीं है।
