तेन वाक्येन संहृष्टा तमभिप्रायमागतम् ।
व्याजहार महाघोरमभ्यागतमिवान्तकम् ॥ ॥२-११-१२॥
tena vākyena saṃhṛṣṭā tamabhiprāyamāgatam । vyājahāra mahāghoramabhyāgatamivāntakam ॥ ॥2-11-12॥
Translation
Delighted by his words and seeing him committed to her design, she uttered very terrifying words, like Death (Antaka) who had arrived in person.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा के उस वचन (शपथ) से प्रसन्न होकर और उन्हें अपने जाल में फँसा जानकर, कैकेयी ने साक्षात् आए हुए यमराज के समान महाभयानक वचन कहे।
English Commentary
The imagery shifts to the macabre. Kaikeyi, thrilled (saṃhṛṣṭā) that Dasharatha has cornered himself with oaths, prepares to speak. Her utterance is compared to Antaka (The Ender/Death personified) arriving at one's door. The adjective mahāghoram (terribly frightening) describes her speech. This simile suggests that what she is about to ask is not just a wish, but a death sentence for the King. The joy she feels contrasts sharply with the "ghora" (horror) she is about to unleash.

कैकेयी की तुलना यहाँ 'अंतक' (यमराज या काल) से की गई है। जिस प्रकार यमराज का आगमन जीवन का अंत करता है, वैसे ही कैकेयी के शब्द दशरथ के जीवन और अयोध्या की खुशियों का अंत करने वाले हैं। राजा की शपथ सुनकर वह 'संहृष्टा' (अत्यंत प्रसन्न) हुई। 'महाघोरम्' शब्द बताता है कि उसकी मांगें कितनी भयानक थीं। यह श्लोक वातावरण में भारीपन और आने वाले विनाश की सूचना देता है। यहाँ कैकेयी पत्नी नहीं, बल्कि साक्षात् मृत्यु का रूप धारण किए हुए है।
