Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
चन्द्रादित्यौ नभशैव ग्रहा रात्र्यहनी दिशः ।
जगच्च पृथिवी चेयं सगन्धर्वा सराक्षसा ॥ ॥२-११-१४॥
candrādityau nabhaśaiva grahā rātryahanī diśaḥ । jagacca pṛthivī ceyaṃ sagandharvā sarākṣasā ॥ ॥2-11-14॥
Translation
The Moon and Sun, the Sky, the Planets, Night and Day, the Directions, the World, and this Earth with its Gandharvas and Rakshasas [let them all listen].

English Commentary
Kaikeyi expands her invocation to encompass the entire cosmos. She lists the celestial bodies (Moon, Sun, Planets), elements of time (Night, Day), spatial directions, and terrestrial beings (Gandharvas, Rakshasas). This creates a universal courtroom. By calling upon natural forces and supernatural beings, she implies that Dasharatha’s promise is now a universal truth known to all creation. This grandiose invocation serves to intimidate Dasharatha further and magnify the gravity of the moment.

कैकेयी गवाहों की सूची को और विस्तृत करती है। वह केवल वैदिक देवताओं तक सीमित नहीं रहती, बल्कि प्रकृति की शक्तियों—सूर्य, चंद्र, आकाश, दिशाओं और काल (रात-दिन)—को भी साक्षी बनाती है। वह गंधर्वों और राक्षसों का भी आह्वान करती है, जिसका अर्थ है कि वह तीनों लोकों के हर प्राणी को इस शपथ का गवाह बना रही है। यह उसके दृढ़ निश्चय और राजा को घेरने की उसकी अचूक योजना का परिचायक है। वह राजा के बचने का कोई भी मार्ग शेष नहीं छोड़ना चाहती।
