ततः परमुवाचेदं वरदं काममोहितम् ।
वरौ यौ मे त्वया देव तदा दत्तौ महीपते ॥ ॥२-११-२३॥
tataḥ paramuvācedaṃ varadaṃ kāmamohitam । varau yau me tvayā deva tadā dattau mahīpate ॥ ॥2-11-23॥
Translation
Then she spoke further to him, who was ready to grant the boon and deluded by desire: "O Lord, O Ruler of the Earth! Those two boons which were granted to me by you then..."

इसके बाद कैकेयी ने उस वर देने को तैयार और काम-मोहित राजा से कहा—"हे महीपते (राजन)! हे देव! उस समय जो दो वर आपने मुझे दिए थे..."
English Commentary
Kaikeyi proceeds to articulate the specific content of the boons. The text reiterates the King's state as "kamamohitam" to emphasize that the following demands are being made to a man not in his full rational faculties but bound by emotional attachment. Addressing him as "Mahipate" (Lord of the Earth) acknowledges his authority to grant the grand political changes she is about to demand.

कैकेयी अब भूमिका समाप्त कर मुख्य मुद्दे पर आती है। वह राजा को 'महीपते' (पृथ्वी के स्वामी) कहकर संबोधित करती है, मानो यह याद दिला रही हो कि उनके पास देने की शक्ति है। श्लोक में 'वरदं' (वर देने वाला) और 'काममोहितम्' (काम में फंसा हुआ) विशेषणों की पुनरावृत्ति यह बताने के लिए है कि राजा अब पूरी तरह से उसकी पकड़ में हैं और ना नहीं कह सकते। अब वह उन दो वरों को परिभाषित करने जा रही है।
