चीराजिनजटाधारी रामो भवतु तापसः ।
भरतो भजतामद्य यौवराज्यमकण्टकम् ॥ ॥२-११-२७॥
cīrājinajaṭādhārī rāmo bhavatu tāpasaḥ । bharato bhajatāmadya yauvarājyamakaṇṭakam ॥ ॥2-11-27॥
Translation
"...Let Rama become an ascetic, wearing bark garments and deerskin, and sporting matted hair. Let Bharata enjoy the thornless crown princehood today."

"...राम वल्कल (पेड़ की छाल) और मृगछाला पहनकर तथा जटाएं रखकर तपस्वी बनें। और भरत आज ही अकंटक (बाधा रहित) युवराज पद का भोग करें।"
English Commentary
The Second Boon (Part 2): The imagery contrasts sharply. For Rama, she demands the visual markers of a renunciant ascetic: cīr (bark), ajina (deerskin), and jaṭā (matted hair). She strips him of his royal identity. For Bharata, she demands a yauvarājyam (crown princehood) that is akaṇṭakam (thornless/without obstacles). Rama is the "thorn" she wants removed so her son can rule without competition.

दूसरा वर (भाग 2): यह श्लोक कैकेयी की निष्ठुरता की पराकाष्ठा है। वह केवल वनवास नहीं चाहती, बल्कि राम को 'तापस' (तपस्वी) के रूप में देखना चाहती है—'चीराजिनजटाधारी' (वल्कल वस्त्र और जटा धारण किए हुए)। वह राम के क्षत्रिय तेज को कुचलना चाहती है। दूसरी ओर, वह भरत के लिए 'अकण्टकम्' (कांटों से रहित/शत्रुहीन) राज्य चाहती है। राम का वन में होना ही भरत के राज्य को 'अकंटक' बनाएगा।
