त्रिशङ्कोरभवत्सूनुर्धुन्धुमारो महायशा: ।
धुन्धुमारो महातेजा युवनाश्वो व्यजायत ॥२-११०-१२॥
Triśaṅkorabhavatsūnurdhundhumāro mahāyaśāḥ । Dhundhumāro mahātejā yuvanāśvo vyajāyata ॥2-110-12॥
Translation
Trishanku's son was the highly illustrious Dhundhumara. From Dhundhumara, the highly radiant Yuvanashva was born.
हिंदी अनुवाद
त्रिशंकु के पुत्र महायशस्वी 'धुन्धुमार' हुए। धुन्धुमार से महातेजस्वी 'युवनाश्व' का जन्म हुआ।
English Commentary
Trishanku’s son is introduced as Dhundhumara. His original name was Kuvalayashva, but he earned the title Dhundhumara ("Slayer of Dhundhu") after killing the demon Dhundhu who lived beneath the sands and troubled the sages. This reinforces the martial duty of the lineage: the protection of the holy from evil forces. He was succeeded by Yuvanashva, the father of the great emperor Mandhata.

त्रिशंकु के पुत्र का मूल नाम कुवलयाश्व था, किन्तु 'धुन्धु' नामक राक्षस का वध करने के कारण वे 'धुन्धुमार' कहलाए। यह नाम ही उनके पराक्रम का प्रमाण है। धुन्धुमार के पुत्र युवनाश्व हुए। युवनाश्व भी एक प्रतापी राजा थे, जिनके पुत्र मान्धाता हुए (अगले श्लोक में)। यह सूची निरंतर यह सिद्ध कर रही है कि इक्ष्वाकु वंश का इतिहास असुर-संहार और धर्म-रक्षा का इतिहास रहा है।
