भार्गवश्च्यवनो नाम हिमवन्तमुपाश्रित: ।
तमृषिं समुपागम्य कालिन्दी त्वभ्यवादयत् ॥२-११०-१८॥
Bhārgavaścyavano nāma himavantamupāśritaḥ । Tamṛṣiṃ samupāgamya kālindī tvabhyavādayat ॥2-110-18॥
Translation
The sage named Chyavana, of the Bhargava lineage, had taken refuge in the Himalayas. Kalindi (the poisoned queen) went to that sage and offered her salutations.

भृगुवंशी 'च्यवन' नामक ऋषि हिमालय पर रहते थे। (दूसरी रानी) कालिन्दी ने उन ऋषि के पास जाकर उन्हें प्रणाम किया।
English Commentary
Seeking protection and likely grieving the loss of her husband Asita, Queen Kalindi approached Sage Chyavana of the Bhargava clan, who was meditating in the Himalayas. This underscores the reliance of the temporal power (Kshatriyas) on spiritual authority (Brahmins) during times of crisis. Chyavana is a legendary sage known for his rejuvenation and power; his patronage was crucial for the survival of the Ikshvaku line at this nadir.

रानी कालिन्दी, जिसे विष दिया गया था, ऋषि च्यवन की शरण में गई। च्यवन ऋषि भृगु वंश के अत्यंत तेजस्वी ऋषि थे। विपत्ति काल में इक्ष्वाकु वंश सदैव ब्रह्म-शक्ति (ऋषियों) की शरण में गया है। यह प्रसंग क्षत्रिय (राजा) और ब्राह्मण (ऋषि) के अटूट संबंध को दर्शाता है। जहाँ क्षात्र बल (असित) हार गया था, वहाँ ब्रह्म बल (च्यवन) ने वंश की रक्षा की।
