स तामभ्यवदद्विप्रो वरेप्सुं पुत्रजन्मनि ।
पुत्रस्ते भविता देवि महात्मा लोकविश्रुत: ।
धार्मिकश्च सुशीलश्च वंशकर्त्ता ऽरिसूदन: ॥२-११०-१९॥
Sa tāmabhyavadadvipro varepsuṃ putrajanmani । Putraste bhavitā devi mahātmā lokaviśrutaḥ । Dhārmikaśca suśīlaśca vaṃśakarttā 'risūdanaḥ ॥2-110-19॥
Translation
To her, who was desirous of a boon regarding the birth of her son, the Brahmana (Chyavana) said: "O Queen, your son will be a great soul, famous in the world, righteous, of good character, the perpetuate of the lineage, and the destroyer of enemies."
हिंदी अनुवाद
पुत्र-जन्म के लिए वर की इच्छा रखने वाली उस रानी से विप्रवर (च्यवान) ने कहा—"हे देवि! तुम्हारा पुत्र महात्मा, लोकविख्यात, धार्मिक, सुशील, वंश को आगे बढ़ाने वाला और शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाला होगा।"
English Commentary
Sage Chyavana blesses Kalindi, prophesying the birth of a son who would defy the poison. He uses powerful descriptors: Vanshakarta (founder/restorer of the lineage) and Arisudana (destroyer of enemies). This foreshadows the birth of King Sagara, who would later reconquer Ayodhya from the Haihayas. Vasistha uses this story to instill hope and a sense of destiny in Rama—suggesting that even when the lineage seems lost (exiled and poisoned), it rises again stronger than before through righteous persistence.

ऋषि च्यवन ने कालिन्दी को अभयदान और आशीर्वाद दिया। उन्होंने भविष्यवाणी की कि विष के प्रभाव के बावजूद बालक न केवल जीवित रहेगा, बल्कि वह 'वंशकर्ता' (वंश का उद्धारक) और 'अरिसूदन' (शत्रुओं का संहारक) होगा। यही बालक आगे चलकर महाराज 'सगर' कहलाए, जिन्होंने हैहयों को हराकर पुनः अयोध्या का राज्य प्राप्त किया। वसिष्ठ राम को बता रहे हैं कि उनके वंश में ऐसे-ऐसे संकट आए, फिर भी धर्म और ऋषियों के आशीर्वाद से वंश सदा ऊपर उठा। इसलिए राम को विषाद त्याग कर अपने कर्तव्य (राज्य-पालन) की ओर देखना चाहिए।
