अंशुमानपि पुत्रो ऽभूदसमञ्जस्य वीर्य्यवान् ।
दिलीपों ऽशुमत: पुत्रो दिलीपस्य भगीरथ: ॥२-११०-२४॥
Aṃśumānapi putro 'bhūdasamañjasya vīryyavān । Dilīpoṃ 'śumataḥ putro dilīpasya bhagīrathaḥ ॥2-110-24॥
Translation
The brave Anshuman was the son of Asamanja. Dilipa was the son of Anshuman, and Bhagiratha was the son of Dilipa.

असमञ्ज के पुत्र वीर्यवान 'अंशुमान' हुए। अंशुमान के पुत्र 'दिलीप' और दिलीप के पुत्र 'भगीरथ' हुए।
English Commentary
The lineage continues through the virtuous Anshuman, skipping the wicked Asamanja. Anshuman represents redemption. His grandson is the legendary Bhagiratha. Though Vasistha does not detail the story here, the mere mention of Bhagiratha evokes the colossal feat of bringing the River Ganges from heaven to earth to salvage the souls of his ancestors. This name carries the weight of impossible penance and filial duty, themes deeply resonant with Rama's current situation.

असमञ्ज के त्याग के बाद, उनके पुत्र अंशुमान ने वंश परंपरा संभाली। अंशुमान बहुत गुणी थे। उनके बाद दिलीप और फिर भगीरथ हुए। भगीरथ इस वंश के एक और प्रकाश-स्तंभ हैं। उन्होंने अपने पूर्वजों (सगर के ६०,००० पुत्रों) के उद्धार के लिए कठोर तप किया और गंगा जी को पृथ्वी पर लाए। भगीरथ का नाम 'प्रयत्न' का पर्याय बन गया है (भगीरथ-प्रयास)। वसिष्ठ नामों का स्मरण कराकर राम को उनके महान दायित्वों की याद दिला रहे हैं।
