तस्मान्मरीचि: संजज्ञे मरीचे: काश्यप: सुत: ॥२-११०-५॥
Tasmānmarīciḥ saṃjajñe marīceḥ kāśyapaḥ sutaḥ ॥2-110-5॥
Translation
"From Him (Brahma), Marichi was born; and Kashyapa was the son of Marichi."

"उन (ब्रह्मा) से मरीचि उत्पन्न हुए और मरीचि के पुत्र कश्यप हुए।"
English Commentary
Vasistha begins the specific lineage of the Solar Dynasty (Surya Vamsa). The sequence is: Brahma -> Marichi -> Kashyapa. Marichi is one of the Saptarishi (Seven Sages) and a mind-born son of Brahma. His son, Kashyapa, is a pivotal figure in Hindu mythology, often regarded as the father of humanity, Devas, Asuras, and various other beings through his multiple wives. By tracing Rama’s roots to Kashyapa, Vasistha elevates the status of the Ayodhya royalty to a level that commands universal respect, far beyond mere terrestrial sovereignty.

अब वसिष्ठ सीधे वंशावली (Genealogy) पर आते हैं। ब्रह्मा के मानस पुत्रों में से एक 'मरीचि' हैं। मरीचि से 'कश्यप' का जन्म हुआ। कश्यप (जिनका गोत्र आज भी प्रसिद्ध है) सृष्टि के विस्तार में सबसे महत्वपूर्ण प्रजापति माने जाते हैं। पुराणों के अनुसार, कश्यप ने दक्ष प्रजापति की कन्याओं से विवाह कर देव, असुर, मानव, और जीव-जंतुओं की उत्पत्ति की। राम के वंश को कश्यप से जोड़कर वसिष्ठ यह सिद्ध कर रहे हैं कि इक्ष्वाकु वंश समस्त मानवता और देवों का भाई-बंधु है।
