स हि राजा जनयिता पिता दशरथो मम ।
आज्ञातं यन्मया तस्य न तन्मिथ्या भविष्यति ॥ ॥२-१११-११॥
Sa hi rājā janayitā pitā daśaratho mama । ājñātaṃ yanmayā tasya na tanmithyā bhaviṣyati ॥ ॥2-111-11॥
Translation
That King Dasharatha is my biological father. Whatever has been promised by me to him (or commanded by him) shall not prove false.

वे राजा दशरथ मेरे जन्मदाता पिता हैं। मैंने उनसे जो प्रतिज्ञा की है (या उन्होंने जो आज्ञा दी है), वह मिथ्या नहीं होगी।
English Commentary
Rama reinforces his position by invoking the dual authority of Dasharatha: he is both the sovereign King (Rājā) and the biological progenitor (Janayitā). This duality makes his command absolute on both political and domestic fronts. The core of Rama’s argument lies in the concept of Satya (Truth). If Rama were to return to Ayodhya, he would render Dasharatha’s word false (mithyā). In the Ethos of the Ramayana, making a parent or a King a liar is a grievous sin that condemns them in the afterlife. Rama views himself as the custodian of his father's integrity. His refusal to return is not a rejection of Bharata's love, but a preservation of the cosmic order where a promise once made creates a reality that cannot be undone without catastrophic moral consequences.

श्रीराम यहाँ अपने निर्णय के पीछे के दोहरे बंधन को स्पष्ट करते हैं। प्रथम, दशरथ 'राजा' हैं, अतः उनकी आज्ञा एक शासक का आदेश है जिसे मानना प्रजा और उत्तराधिकारी का कर्तव्य है। द्वितीय, वे 'जनयिता पिता' हैं, जिनका स्थान राजा से भी ऊपर है। 'न तन्मिथ्या भविष्यति' वाक्यांश रघुकुल की उस गौरवशाली परंपरा का उद्घोष है जहाँ प्राण जा सकते हैं, पर वचन नहीं। श्रीराम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वनवास स्वीकार करना कोई राजनीतिक विवशता नहीं, अपितु एक नैतिक प्रतिबद्धता है। यदि राम लौट जाते हैं, तो दशरथ का वचन झूठा सिद्ध होगा, जिससे पिता को परलोक में कष्ट होगा। एक आदर्श पुत्र के रूप में राम पिता के 'सत्य' की रक्षा के लिए अपने राजसी सुखों का त्याग कर रहे हैं। यह धर्म और सत्य के प्रति उनकी निष्ठा का चरम है।
