अनेन धर्मशीलेन वनात् प्रत्यागत: पुन: ।
भ्रात्रा सह भविष्यामि पृथिव्या: पतिरुत्तम: ॥ ॥२-१११-३१॥
Anena dharmaśīlena vanāt pratyāgataḥ punaḥ । Bhrātrā saha bhaviṣyāmi pṛthivyāḥ patiruttamaḥ ॥ ॥2-111-31॥
Translation
"Having returned again from the forest, I shall become the excellent lord of the earth along with this righteous-natured brother."

"वन से पुनः लौटने पर, मैं इस धर्मशील भाई (भरत) के साथ मिलकर पृथ्वी का उत्तम पालन (राज्य) करूँगा।"
English Commentary
Rama offers a future-oriented compromise to assuage Bharata's grief. He promises that upon his return from exile (vanāt pratyāgataḥ), he will rule with Bharata. The phrase bhrātrā saha (along with my brother) suggests a shared sovereignty or at least a deep reliance on Bharata as his right hand. This redefines the 14-year period not as a permanent loss but as a temporary separation leading to a glorious reunion. It gives Bharata a specific goal: to hold the fort until Rama returns to rule "along with him," thereby validating Bharata's indispensability.

यह श्लोक एक दूरदर्शी वादा (Promise) है। राम भरत को सांत्वना देते हैं कि यह वियोग स्थायी नहीं है। वनवास पूरा होने के बाद, वे 'भ्रात्रा सह' (भाई के साथ) राज्य करेंगे। यह कहकर राम ने स्पष्ट कर दिया कि वे भरत को राज्य से बेदखल नहीं कर रहे, बल्कि केवल 14 वर्ष के लिए दायित्व सौंप रहे हैं। 'धर्मशीलेन' विशेषण का प्रयोग करके राम ने पुनः भरत की योग्यता पर मुहर लगा दी। यह भविष्य का आश्वासन भरत को जीने और शासन करने का उद्देश्य देता है। राम साझा शासन (Joint Governance) या सहयोग की बात करके भरत के अपराधबोध को कम करते हैं।
