तं मातरो बाष्पगृहीतकण्ठ्यो दु:खेन नामन्त्रयितुं हि शेकु: ।
स त्वेव मातऽरभिवाद्य सर्वा रुदन् कुटीं स्वां प्रविवेश राम: ॥ ॥२-११२-३१॥
Taṃ mātaro bāṣpagṛhītakaṇṭhyo duḥkhena nāmantrayituṃ hi śekuḥ । Sa tveva mātṛrabhivādya sarvā rudan kuṭīṃ svāṃ praviveśa rāmaḥ ॥ ॥2-112-31॥
Translation
His mothers, their throats choked with tears, could not even bid him farewell due to their grief. But he (Rama), having saluted all the mothers, entered his own hut, weeping.
हिंदी अनुवाद
माताएं, जिनका गला आंसुओं (बाष्प) से रुंधा हुआ था, दुःख के कारण राम को संबोधित (विदा) भी न कर सकीं। तब राम ने ही उन सभी माताओं का अभिवादन किया और रोते हुए अपनी कुटिया में प्रवेश किया।
English Commentary
The scene concludes with a heartbreaking silence. The mothers are physically unable to speak (nāmantrayituṃ hi śekuḥ) because grief has choked their voices. The farewell is unspoken. Rama, sensing their agony, proactively offers his salutations. The final image of this episode is Rama entering his hut while weeping (rudan). It signifies the closing of the door on his past life. He held the fort of Dharma while the debate lasted, but once the duty was done, he allowed himself to grieve. Retiring into the hut symbolizes the commencement of his true isolation and the finality of the separation for the next fourteen years.

यह सर्ग (Chapter 112) का अंतिम और अत्यंत करुण श्लोक है। माताओं की स्थिति ऐसी है कि वे 'राम' शब्द भी नहीं बोल पा रही हैं—'बाष्पगृहीतकण्ठ्यो' (गला आंसुओं से जकड़ा हुआ)। मौन ही उनका संवाद है। राम ने औपचारिकता का इंतजार नहीं किया; उन्होंने स्वयं झुककर सबको प्रणाम किया। 'रुदन् कुटीं स्वां प्रविवेश' (रोते हुए अपनी कुटिया में चले गए) एक बहुत ही शक्तिशाली दृश्य है। जब तक सब सामने थे, राम ने खुद को संभाले रखा। जैसे ही विदाई पूरी हुई, वे अपनी कुटिया के एकांत में जाकर रो पड़े। यह राम के मानवीय पक्ष का और उनके द्वारा किए गए त्याग की गहराई का परिचय देता है। दरवाजा बंद होना, अयोध्या से उनके संपर्क टूटने का प्रतीक है।
