Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवमुक्तो महाप्राज्ञो वसिष्ठ: प्रत्युवाच ह ।
वाक्यज्ञो वाक्यकुशलं राघवं वचनं महत् ॥ ॥२-११३-११॥
Evamukto mahāprājño vasiṣṭhaḥ pratyuvāca ha |
Vākyajño vākyakuśalaṃ rāghavaṃ vacanaṃ mahat ॥2-113-11॥
Translation
Thus addressed, the greatly wise Vashishtha, who was an expert in speech, spoke these significant words to Raghava (Rama), who was himself skilled in speech.

राम के ऐसा कहने पर, महाज्ञानी और वाणी के मर्म को जानने वाले वसिष्ठ जी ने, बोलने में कुशल राघव (राम) से यह महत्वपूर्ण वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This verse highlights the intellectual and spiritual stature of both the Guru and the disciple. Vashishtha is described as 'mahāprājña' (greatly wise) and 'vākyajña' (knower of speech), while Rama is 'vākyakuśala' (skilled in speech). When such elevated minds converse, a resolution is inevitable. Vashishtha realized Rama would not break the vow, so he intervened with 'vacanaṃ mahat' (significant words) to find a middle ground. This marks the moment the Guru orchestrates a solution that honors Rama's vow while providing solace and authority to Bharata.

यहाँ गुरु और शिष्य के बीच की बौद्धिक और आध्यात्मिक ऊँचाई का वर्णन है। वसिष्ठ 'महाप्राज्ञ' (अत्यंत बुद्धिमान) और 'वाक्यज्ञ' (वाणी के मर्मज्ञ) हैं। राम 'वाक्यकुशल' हैं। जब दो ज्ञानी बात करते हैं, तो समाधान निकलता है। वसिष्ठ समझ गए कि राम वनवास नहीं छोड़ेंगे, इसलिए उन्होंने एक मध्य मार्ग (विल्प) खोजने के लिए 'महत् वचन' (महत्वपूर्ण बात) कही। यह श्लोक उस क्षण को दर्शाता है जब गुरु ने स्थिति को सँभालने के लिए हस्तक्षेप किया ताकि भरत का भी मान रहे और राम की प्रतिज्ञा भी न टूटे।
