एवमुक्तो वसिष्ठेन राघव: प्राङ्मुख: स्थित: ।
पादुके अधिरुह्यैते मम राज्याय वै ददौ ॥ ॥२-११३-१३॥
Evamukto vasiṣṭhena rāghavaḥ prāṅmukhaḥ sthitaḥ |
Pāduke adhiruhyaite mama rājyāya vai dadau ॥2-113-13॥
Translation
Thus requested by Vashishtha, Raghava stood facing east, stepped onto the sandals, and then gave them to me for the sake of the kingdom.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वसिष्ठ जी के ऐसा कहने पर, राघव (राम) ने पूर्व दिशा की ओर मुख करके खड़ाऊँ पहनीं और फिर (उतारकर) मेरे राज्य के (पालन के) लिए दे दीं।
English Commentary
The ritual of handing over the sandals is performed with scriptural precision. Standing 'prāṅmukhaḥ' (facing east) is auspicious. Rama first steps onto the sandals ('adhiruhya'), symbolically infusing them with his spiritual power, authority, and aura. Only then does he hand them over. When Bharata says Rama gave them 'for my kingdom,' it implies 'for the kingdom that I must now reluctantly look after.' This act solves the constitutional crisis: the sandals rule, and Bharata serves the sandals.

राम द्वारा पादुका प्रदान करने की विधि अत्यंत शास्त्रीय है। 'प्राङ्मुख: स्थित:' (पूर्व की ओर मुख करके) कार्य करना मांगलिक माना जाता है। राम ने पहले पादुकाओं पर अपने चरण रखे ('अधिरुह्य'), जिसका आध्यात्मिक अर्थ है कि उन्होंने अपनी शक्ति, तेज और अधिकार उन पादुकाओं में संचारित कर दिया। उसके बाद उन्होंने वे पादुकाएँ भरत को सौंप दीं। यहाँ 'मम राज्याय' (मेरे राज्य के लिए) का प्रयोग भरत कर रहे हैं, जिसका भाव है—"मेरे द्वारा शासित होने वाले राज्य की रक्षा के लिए"। यह राम का भरत के प्रति विश्वास और गुरु की आज्ञा का पालन दर्शाता है।
