निवृत्तो ऽहमनुज्ञातो रामेण सुमहात्मना ।
अयोध्यामेव गच्छामि गृहीत्वा पादुके शुभे ॥ ॥२-११३-१४॥
Nivṛttō 'hamanujñātō rāmeṇa sumahātmanā |
Ayodhyāmeva gacchāmi gṛhītvā pāduke śubhe ॥2-113-14॥
Translation
"Having been permitted by the extremely high-souled Rama, and taking those auspicious sandals, I have returned and am now proceeding to Ayodhya."

"महात्मा राम द्वारा आज्ञा प्राप्त कर और उन शुभ पादुकाओं को साथ लेकर मैं लौट आया हूँ और अब अयोध्या ही जा रहा हूँ।"
English Commentary
Bharata concludes his narrative of the events. The word 'anujñātō' (permitted/ordered) is vital; Bharata did not return out of his own desire to rule, but solely because Rama commanded it. He describes Rama as 'sumahātmanā' (extremely noble soul). Bharata is returning not with the King, but with the 'paduke śubhe' (auspicious sandals). He informs Sage Bharadwaja that his destination is Ayodhya, where he will fulfill the painful duty of governance as a proxy. His tone reflects duty and resignation, not the joy of a returning prince.

भरत यहाँ अपनी वर्तमान स्थिति का समापन करते हैं। 'अनुज्ञातो' (अनुमति प्राप्त करके) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है। भरत अपनी इच्छा से नहीं लौटे, बल्कि राम की आज्ञा मानकर लौटे हैं। 'सुमहात्मना' विशेषण राम की उदारता को दर्शाता है। भरत के पास अब राम नहीं, किन्तु 'पादुके शुभे' (कल्याणकारी पादुकाएँ) हैं। वे ऋषि भरद्वाज को सूचित कर रहे हैं कि वे अब सीधे अयोध्या जा रहे हैं ताकि राज्य का कार्यभार (न्यासी के रूप में) संभाल सकें। उनके स्वर में कर्तव्यपालन का भाव है, उत्साह का नहीं।
