एतच्छ्रुत्वा शुभं वाक्यं भरतस्य महात्मन: ।
भरद्वाज: शुभतरं मुनिर्वाक्यमुवाच तम् ॥ ॥२-११३-१५॥
Etacchrutvā śubhaṃ vākyaṃ bharatasya mahātmanaḥ |
Bharadvājaḥ śubhataraṃ munirvākyamuvāca tam ॥2-113-15॥
Translation
Hearing these auspicious words of the high-souled Bharata, Sage Bharadwaja spoke words to him that were even more auspicious.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महात्मा भरत के ये शुभ वचन सुनकर, मुनि भरद्वाज ने उनसे और भी अधिक कल्याणकारी (शुभतर) वचन कहे।
English Commentary
There is a beautiful interplay of 'śubha' (auspicious) and 'śubhatara' (more auspicious) here. Bharata's words were auspicious because they reflected sacrifice, brotherly love, and obedience. However, the sage's response is deemed 'more auspicious' because the validation and blessing of a realized sage elevate a human action to a divine status. Sage Bharadwaja understands Bharata's internal conflict and sorrow, and his subsequent words are intended to heal and immortalize Bharata's character.

यहाँ 'शुभ' और 'शुभतर' का सुंदर प्रयोग है। भरत के वचन 'शुभ' थे क्योंकि उनमें त्याग, भ्रातृ-प्रेम और गुरु-आज्ञा का पालन था। परंतु भरद्वाज के वचन 'शुभतर' (अधिक श्रेष्ठ) कहे गए हैं क्योंकि एक सिद्ध ऋषि का आशीर्वाद और अनुमोदन (Validation) सांसारिक त्याग से भी ऊपर होता है। जब ऋषि किसी के चरित्र की प्रशंसा करते हैं, तो वह उस व्यक्ति को इतिहास में अमर बना देता है। भरद्वाज, भरत की व्यथा को समझते हैं और उन्हें सांत्वना देने के लिए अपनी वाणी का प्रयोग करते हैं।
