नन्दिग्रामं गमिष्यामि सर्वानामन्त्रये ऽद्य व: ।
तत्र दु:खमिदं सर्वं सहिष्ये राघवं विना ॥२-११५-२॥
nandigrāmam gamiṣyāmi sarvānāmantraye 'dya vaḥ |
tatra duḥkhamidaṃ sarvaṃ sahiṣye rāghavaṃ vinā ॥2-115-2॥
Translation
"I shall go to Nandigrama; I take leave of you all today. There, I shall endure all this sorrow without Raghava."

मैं नन्दिग्राम जाऊंगा। आज मैं आप सभी से अनुमति लेता हूँ। वहां रहकर मैं राघव (श्रीराम) के बिना इस समस्त दुःख को सहन करूँगा।
English Commentary
Bharata's decision to reside in Nandigrama, a hamlet on the outskirts of Ayodhya, is a self-imposed exile parallel to Rama's forest life. By refusing to live in the capital city proper, he physically demonstrates his refusal to usurp Rama's place. The phrase "I shall endure all this sorrow" acknowledges that his pain stems from separation ("Raghavam vina"), and he chooses to bear this burden in solitude rather than masking it with royal comforts. It defines his concept of trusteeship—managing the kingdom without enjoying its privileges.

भरत का नन्दिग्राम जाने का निर्णय उनके त्याग की पराकाष्ठा है। वह अयोध्या के सिंहासन और राजमहलों का उपभोग करने से इनकार कर देते हैं क्योंकि उनके अग्रज वन में हैं। 'राघवं विना' (राम के बिना) ही उनके दुःख का मूल कारण है। नन्दिग्राम अयोध्या के बाहर स्थित है, अत: वहां रहना एक प्रकार का वनवास ही है। भरत यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वह राज्य का संचालन तो करेंगे, किन्तु विलासिता से दूर रहकर। यह निर्णय प्रायश्चित और प्रेम का अद्भुत मिश्रण है। वह गुरुजनों से 'आमन्त्रये' (अनुमति/विदाई) मांग रहे हैं, जो उनकी विनयशीलता दर्शाता है।
