अभिषिक्ते तु काकुत्स्थे प्रहृष्टमुदिते जने ।
प्रीतिर्मम यशश्चैव भवेद्राज्याच्चतुर्गुणम् ॥२-११५-२१॥
abhiṣikte tu kākutsthe prahṛṣṭamudite jane |
prītirmama yaśaścaiva bhavedrājyāccaturguṇam ॥2-115-21॥
Translation
"When Kakutstha (Rama) is consecrated and the people are thrilled and joyous, my happiness and fame shall be four times greater than from the kingdom itself."
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब ककुत्स्थ कुल के भूषण श्रीराम का अभिषेक होगा और प्रजा हर्षित एवं आनंदित होगी, तब मेरा प्रेम और यश राज्य (मिलने) की अपेक्षा चौगुना बढ़ जाएगा।
English Commentary
Bharata compares the value of kingship with the value of Rama's coronation. He concludes that the joy ("priti") and fame ("yasha") derived from seeing Rama crowned are four times ("chaturgunam") greater than possessing the kingdom himself. He links his happiness to the public mood ("prahrishtamudite jane"). This statement elevates him above worldly calculations; he values moral victory and the joy of others far above personal aggrandizement.

भरत यहाँ 'यश' (कीर्ति) की नई परिभाषा देते हैं। संसार की दृष्टि में राजा बनने से यश मिलता है, किन्तु भरत कहते हैं कि राम का अभिषेक होने पर उनका यश 'चतुर्गुणम्' (चार गुना) बढ़ जाएगा। उन्हें अपनी ख़ुशी प्रजा की ख़ुशी ('प्रहृष्टमुदिते जने') में दिखाई देती है। यह निस्वार्थ प्रेम का उद्घोष है। वे जानते हैं कि इतिहास उन्हें एक महान राजा के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक महान भाई और त्यागी के रूप में याद रखेगा, और यही उनके लिए सबसे बड़ा पुरस्कार है।
